The “Long Covid-19” syndrome, created by the corona virus epidemic, which has killed more than 6 million people worldwide and infected more than 532 million people, affects the quality of life of many people. Scientists have proposed a test to understand if individuals have had prolonged Covid-19.
The corona virus, which worries the whole world, causes a syndrome called “Long Covid-19” in many patients, negatively affecting the lives of millions of people.
But scientists have come up with a very simple test for people who haven’t taken the test and who suspect they’ve had the corona virus in the last few months or years. Experts said it would be appropriate for people who suspect they are sick and have a long Covid-19 syndrome to do some simple tests.
SMELLS LIKE BURNED PLASTIC
Noting that people’s sense of smell and taste have changed with the Corona virus outbreak, experts said the sense of smell of people who have recovered from Covid-19 has deteriorated. Scientists have announced that people with long corona virus syndrome smell like burnt plastic when they smell hot coffee.
Communications medicine research has revealed that an odor molecule found in coffee triggers smell and taste in the human body. It was stated that only one of the approximately 100 flavor components of coffee was felt.
Jane Parker, an associate professor at the University of Reading who led the research, said: ‘We found that flavor compounds in food trigger the body. It showed that smell and taste are not just in the head,” he said.
Simon Gane, who led the research, said studies are ongoing and a long research process is needed to understand how molecules are noticed. Scientists have also listed foods that impair the sense of smell.
Scientists have pointed out that the sense of smell is impaired in coffee, onion, garlic, chicken and green pepper.
