Google’s firing of its engineer, who works on the company’s artificial intelligence project and said the computer program has its own emotions, so its wishes must be respected, has raised important intelligence discussions artificial.

Google says its technology, called Language Model for Conversational Applications, or Lamda for short, can engage in open conversations and is a major technological breakthrough.

But engineer Blake Lemoine, who works in Google’s Responsible Artificial Intelligence division, thinks a sensitive mind could be behind Lamda’s impressive verbal skills.

Google denies this, saying the allegations are baseless.
